Based on the information shared by employees of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Trans-Baikal Territory, a check was carried out on the territory of the region for the presence of pests on agricultural land.
In total, over twenty-one thousand hectares were tested. We add that the assessment of the situation was given by leading specialists of the Agricultural Center of the region.
As a result of the check, it was possible to establish that the malicious larvae of meadow moths "occupied" over eight thousand hectares of sown fields. It should be emphasized that the density of tracks exceeding the economic limit of harmfulness was recorded in the vast Alek-Zavodsky district, as well as on the agricultural fields of Borzinsky, Chita, Ner-Zavodsky and Priargunsky districts.

The total area of land damage by caterpillars exceeded two thousand one hundred and fifty hectares. The authorities of the region emphasize that on all land agricultural resources mass measures of prevention and pest control have been taken.
In particular, the fields were processed by special means. And at the moment, experts, having analyzed the situation, assure that there is no threat of crop destruction due to the attack of caterpillars in the marginal fields.
If we talk about locust larvae, then fifty-eight thousand agricultural hectares were worked out to identify them. As a result, it turned out that only a few sites in different regions of the region were affected by the locust, and the economic threshold was not exceeded. On average, no more than five locust larvae per square meter of surveyed territory.
