Foreign markets show great interest in Ukrainian organic blueberries. To date, 14 producers of organic berries are registered in the country. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
Now in Ukraine organic production is booming. About 45.4% of the organic land occupied by the cultivation of grain crops.
Almost all grown organic products of Ukraine are exported, said the acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Olga Trofimtseva, as part of a working visit to the BIG BLUE farm, where organic blueberries are grown.
Olga Trofimtseva also added that the company uses state support, which helps in its development. Currently, about 70% of the farm’s berries are exported, 30% goes to the Ukrainian market.
According to her, Ukrainian markets are increasingly interested in Ukrainian organic blueberries, as a result of which its export is growing. So, in 2016, it amounted to 1.96 thousand tons, in 2017 - 2.89 thousand tons, in 2018 - 3.29 thousand tons.
Most often, Ukrainian blueberries went to such countries: Ireland, Poland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Germany, Serbia, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, France.
According to the data for 2018, the area allotted for organic production of berries in Ukraine (organic and transitional) was equal to 840.79 ha, of which 106.75 ha were land under blueberries (organic and transitional).
