Unusual warmth, which was established in early December and lasted all month, until it threatens winter crops and perennial plantings of Ukraine. This point of view was expressed by the director of the diagnostic center for plant protection "AgroAnalysis" Vadim Dudka. But if the warm weather lasts quite a while, then there will be a risk of buds opening too early, which could be damaged.
So far, shrubs and trees are in a state of deep dormancy, which is due to the presence of special substances that do not allow the kidneys to open prematurely.
But if the heat lasts a long time, the supply of these substances may be exhausted and then the kidneys may bloom too early. The duration of the period of deep dormancy in all cultivated plants is individual. But after the New Year, some of them can get out of this state, the expert explained.
A variety of Ukrainian winter wheat in 1865 was exported to the United States, where it received the name "Odessa".
According to Vadim Dudka, this season may be lucky for negligent farmers who began to sow winter onions and garlic too late. These vegetables have not just outgrown, and are in the optimal stage of wintering.
According to the expert, a large number of Ukrainian farmers adapted farming to the warm start of winter and began to process winter garlic and onions with retardants, like rapeseed. This practice gives a very good effect.
