This information was provided by experts on customs statistics. According to them, only a little more than three million dollars were able to earn on the sale of meat of Ukrainian pigs. Despite the fact that in 2017 the amount was three times higher.

“There is more and more foreign pork on the Ukrainian shelves every day,” analysts say. “In 2018, Ukrainian buyers purchased 23 thousand tons of imported pork more than last year.”

Having sold pork to Ukraine, foreign traders earned more than $ 43 million.

According to experts, today in Ukrainian livestock farming there are a considerable number of serious problems. First of all, we are talking about a significant reduction in pork stock. Over the past two years alone, Ukraine has become two million pigs less than previously observed.

“Today in our country there are less than 50 breeding plants,” experts say. “Eight years ago, in 2010 there were about a hundred such plants.”

To a large extent, the situation was affected by the African swine fever, because of which the ranks of Ukrainian pigs were seriously thinned. Moreover, as a result of the virus, Ukraine completely lost the representatives of two breeds - the big black and the Mirgorod. "Breeding pigs today is an unprofitable occupation," Ukrainian farmers are sure. “It takes a lot of time to raise one good pig.” money and effort. And the profit from the sale of pigs today practically does not cover the costs. ”For this reason, analysts are convinced that import suppliers are closing their gaps in the assortment of pork in the Ukrainian market with their goods.
