The Vietnamese mission, led by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, will focus on studying the supply of agricultural products. Priority is given to the import of agricultural and technological products from the USA for further production and domestic consumption.
The mission was joined by 19 enterprises, 1 association, and 5 product groups were presented:
- cereals, animal feed;
- meat, dairy and aquatic products;
- vegetables and fruits;
- wood products and chemicals;
- fertilizers.
In accordance with the work program, the possibilities of developing cooperation and technology transfer in the field of agriculture are being studied with the aim of developing domestic production chains and working with the US authorities to eliminate difficulties and problems, strengthen cooperation, create favorable conditions for the import and export of agriculture, forestry and fish economy between the two countries.
According to rice consumption, Vietnam is in second place. Each year, 170 kg of rice are produced per inhabitant, and a family of two eats 1 kg of cereal daily.
Cooperation between Vietnam and the United States has developed very well in recent years, bringing many benefits to both countries. In trade relations, US exports to Vietnam grew steadily from 9.35 billion US dollars in 2017 to 14.37 billion US dollars in 2019, an increase of 53% over 2 years, in particular with respect to fresh fruit products in 2019. US exports to Vietnam increased from US $ 210 million to US $ 304 million (an increase of 51%).
With regard to agriculture, the Ministry has confirmed that it always gives priority to scientific, technical, trade and investment cooperation with American partners on high-tech agricultural production models.
