Canada is ready to import products from Ukraine such as apples, eggs and meat products, the press service of the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Rights said in a statement following a meeting of representatives of the two countries.
During it, negotiations were held about the widespread promotion of Ukrainian products on the Canadian market. The Canadian side was most interested in meat products, apples and eggs produced in Ukraine. A mission of the Canadian competent authority is scheduled for May this year, which will inspect the state control system of Ukraine, the press service reports.
As part of the meeting, a discussion was held of the results of the activities of Canadian experts who conducted an audit of the state control system in the beekeeping industry and operated on the territory of Ukraine on February 18-22 this year. The final report on its results is expected within 2 months. For information, from August 1, 2017, Canada and Ukraine have a free trade zone, which eliminates about 98% of trade restrictions and customs duties in mutual work. Under the beneficial influence of the Free Trade Zone, Ukraine was able to significantly increase the export of apple concentrate to Canada, as a result of which it became one of the leaders in the procurement of this product.
