Last week, Ukrainian markets saw a sharp drop in prices for cucumbers. And already this week has revealed a tendency to an active rise in the cost of vegetables, as analysts at the EastFruit project inform, based on data from their own daily monitoring.
According to analysts, cucumbers in the country's markets are becoming more expensive due to a significant reduction in their supply. Stationary greenhouses are now stripping to prepare for the second crop rotation, which entails a marked decrease in the harvest of cucumbers.
At the same time, the selection of cucumbers from summer greenhouses decreased due to adverse weather conditions. In this situation, prices for cucumbers currently fluctuate in the range of 10-14 UAH / kg, which is 0.38-0.53 dollars / kg.
This is 40% higher than was recorded last week. This season, many greenhouse plants refused to grow cucumbers of the second crop rotation, while others prefer to grow tomatoes instead of cucumbers.
It is noteworthy that today cucumbers in Ukrainian markets cost 2.2 times more than on the same date last year. According to key market players, a further increase in product prices may negatively affect the pace of its sales.
