Based on the forecasts of experts from the Association of Hemp Breeders of the Russian Federation, 2019 will be a really hot period for those farmers who are involved in sowing technical hemp.
The fact is that in the very near future the territories on which this culture is grown can grow and reach an area of 15 thousand hectares.
According to the Federal State Statistics Service, last year hemp crops occupied an area of 7.9 thousand hectares, which, by the way, is almost 58% more than years ago in 2017.According to representatives of the Cannabis Association, today in the Russian Federation, farmers of the Oryol region, as well as Kursk, Penza, Nizhny Novgorod and Novosibirsk, as well as farmers of Mordovia and Adygea are engaged in the cultivation of technical hemp.
Given that the product is in high demand not only in Russia but also abroad, and is also valued for its high quality, they intend to cultivate technical hemp in several other areas of the country. So, Chuvash, Krasnodar, Irkutsk, Altai and Chelyabinsk farmers, as well as agrarians of the Ryazan region and the Bryansk region, are ready to engage in crop cultivation. It will not be superfluous to note that over the past few years a dozen new industrial hemp processing complexes have appeared on the territory of the Russian Federation: in particular, we are talking about “Mordovian hemp plants”, “Konopleks” and “Nizhny Novgorod hemp fibers”.
